(j)
Every Electrical Contractor shall, within fourteen (14) days of any change in the Master
Electrician employed by him to perform work within the City, provide to the Issuer of
Licenses, the name and address of the new Master Electrician and shall ensure that such
Master Electrician has obtained the appropriate City license as required under this by-law
prior to the commencement of any work by that Master Electrician within the City.
(k) Every Electrical Contractor shall ensure that all vehicles used by him or his employees in
the course of business in the City, bear on the rear of the vehicle in a clearly visible location,
a Cambridge Electrical Contractor decal, as shown in Schedule B, as supplied by the
municipality at a cost as prescribed in Schedule A of this by-law.
(l)
Every Electrical Contractor shall ensure that all necessary permits are obtained prior to
commencement of any work, and shall, upon completion, procure a Certificate of Inspection
that all electrical work has been carried out to the standards required.
(m) An Electrical Contractor who does not hold a Master Electrician’s license shall not be
considered to be part of Reciprocal Licensing agreements with the municipalities set out in
Section 5(a) herein as set forth in this by-law.
3.
ELECTRICAL MASTER
(a) Every Master Electrician’s license shall expire December 31 annually.
(b) No person shall operate as a Master Electrician within the City without first having obtained a
license to do so.
(c) No person shall set himself forward as a Master Electrician in the City unless he has met the
requirements of this by-law.
(d) No person shall make application for a Master Electrician’s license or submit to an examination
to the Board of Examiners unless such applicant has held a Certificate of Qualification issued by
the Province of Ontario Apprenticeship and Tradesman’s Qualifications Act for a minimum of
two years.
(e) No person shall receive a Master Electrician License under this by-law until he has passed an
examination of the Board of Examiners, as constituted by this by-law, testing his or her
knowledge of all relevant legislation, regulations, by-laws, codes and standards affecting the
work of a Master Electrician.
(f)
Notwithstanding Section 3(e), the applicant is not required to write the Master Electrician exam if
he can show proof to the Chief Building Official, or his designate, that he has met the
requirements of any one of the municipalities listed in Section 5(a) or of the Electrician
Contractor Registration Agency of the Electrical Contractor Association of Ontario as identified
in Section 5(b).
(g) Notwithstanding Section 3(e), if the applicant is a holder of a Master Electrician’s license in the
preceding year, no such examination shall be required for renewal of such license.
(h) Every Master Electrician shall produce, upon request, his Master Electrician’s license as issued
by the Issuer of Licenses for the City.
(i)
A Master Electrician shall within (14) fourteen days notify the Issuer of Licenses upon ceasing to
act as a Master Electrician for one Electrical Contractor and upon commencing to act as a
Master Electrician for another Electrical Contractor.
(j)
No person shall carry on work as a Master Electrician for more than one Electrical Contractor at
any one time.
(k) No license shall be required by:
(i)
qualified electrician’s apprentice while working under the direct supervision of a
Master Electrician licensed under this by-law;
(ii)
employees of a public service commission, municipal corporation, a commercial or
industrial establishment in its own established premises and who has in his
possession a Certificate of Qualification in the trade of Electrician issued by the
Province of Ontario under the Apprenticeship and Tradesmen’s Qualification Act;
(iii)
an individual owner of premises personally doing electrical work in or about his
occupied premises but shall not include the initial installation of the electrical system
unless the owner of the premises has obtained a Certificate of Qualification in the
trade of Electrician from the Province of Ontario under the Apprenticeship and
Tradesmen’s Qualification Act.
